The question that started everything… HOW ARE YOU?
Before Dawn Disciples became a movement, it began as a personal awakening.
This is the story of how God used brokenness, brotherhood, and the early morning hours to rebuild a life — and call other men to rise with Him.
It all started with a simple question: “How are you doing?”
Or maybe the better one — “Where are you?”
Every Sunday, in small groups or conversations with other men, I’d ask how they were doing. And almost every time, the answer was the same: “Good.”
But as I listened — really listened — I began to notice something.
Behind that word “good” were stories of struggle: porn addiction, burnout, anxiety, and quiet spiritual drift.
I saw it in others, and if I was honest, I saw it in myself too.
The Church as a Hospital
I’ve always seen the church as a kind of hospital — a place filled with patients who’ve heard of this great Physician.
One who can raise the dead, give sight to the blind, and heal those hidden places in our hearts that we try to keep buried.
But too often, instead of walking in needing help, we walk in pretending we’re fine.
We put on our masks, nod our heads, and say “good.”
And yet beneath it all, many of us are quietly bleeding inside — trying to follow Jesus while hiding from Him at the same time.
When Busy Replaced Surrender
A few years ago, I found myself in rehab for the second time.
It was there that the Lord began to show me how I’d gotten there.
From the outside, you’d think I was winning — an elder, a preacher, running a thriving real estate business, constantly serving, constantly moving.
My calendar was packed from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
But that calendar told the truth — not about my priorities as I said them, but as I lived them.
It was full of what mattered most to me: success, achievement, and staying busy for Jesus instead of actually being with Him.
I’d taken my eyes off the One who called me.
And slowly, my faith became performance.
My family got what was left of me.
Jesus got the leftovers, too.
I was lying to myself, my wife, my community — even to Him.
The Breaking Point
The pressure to keep everything together — the marriage, the business, the image — finally broke me.
Unresolved trauma mixed with exhaustion and shame had me running to porn and alcohol instead of to Christ.
But in rehab, something shifted.
I decided I wasn’t going to wear a mask anymore.
I was going to stop pretending and start actually putting Jesus first — not in theory, but in my time, my rhythms, my priorities.
That’s when everything began to change.
The Dawn of a New Rhythm
Around that same time, my wife suggested we do the 75 Hard challenge — a program designed to build discipline and mental toughness.
I didn’t want to do it. But I saw it as a way to serve her, so I said yes.
We started waking up at 5:00am, working out, reading, drinking our gallons of water.
I felt stronger — but also restless.
Because while I was building discipline, I wasn’t building devotion.
I was growing healthier and wiser, but not holier.
That’s when the idea for Dawn Disciples was born.
What if men could rise early — not just for productivity, but for presence?
What if we could train not just our bodies, but our souls?
The Movement Begins
We started something simple called The Dawn 40 — a 40-day challenge to reset the rhythm of life and rebuild a foundation of faith, discipline, and purpose.
Men began waking up early, meeting before sunrise to pray, read, and encourage one another.
We created a rule of life — a daily rhythm rooted in Jesus, lived out in brotherhood, and anchored in practices that bring real transformation.
Since then, I’ve seen the fruit firsthand — in my own life and in the lives of other men.
I’ve become more present at home, more honest with my wife, more intentional with my kids.
Other men have shared similar stories — more patience with their children, deeper connection with their wives, renewed intimacy with Jesus.
Why We Exist
Dawn Disciples is about more than mornings.
It’s about men waking up — spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.
It’s about removing the mask, stepping into brotherhood, and learning that strength begins with surrender.
It’s about training for godliness (1 Timothy 4:7), one dawn at a time.
This is who we are:
A brotherhood of men choosing to rise early, walk with God, and live on purpose — together.
Where We’re Headed
Dawn Disciples isn’t just a men’s group — it’s a movement of spiritual awakening.
Our goal is to see men rise early, remove the mask, walk closely with Jesus, and live intentionally in their faith, families, and communities.
We’re not chasing perfection.
We’re pursuing presence — one dawn at a time.
Join a community of brothers who no longer want to play church, but be the church.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
-
Everything we do starts and ends with Jesus.
He’s not an addition to our life — He is life. Our success, habits, and discipline mean nothing if they aren’t rooted in knowing Him personally.“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” — Colossians 1:17
-
We’re not chasing flawless performance; we’re pursuing growth.
Faith is a journey — every small act of obedience matters more than appearing “put together.”“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6
-
Men weren’t meant to walk alone.
We need brothers who see us, challenge us, and remind us of who we are when life gets loud. Real change happens in honest community.“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17
-
We don’t just talk about faith — we live it.
Through daily rhythms of silence, Scripture, movement, and reflection, we’re training our souls to follow Jesus in the everyday.Train Yourself for Godliness - 1 Timothy 4:7
WHAT WE DO
-
A 40-day journey in the disciplines of grace.
The Dawn 40 is a reset — a spiritual and practical challenge designed to realign your life around what truly matters. It’s not about performance or perfection, but about presence, discipline, and walking with Jesus in the everyday.

Our GroupMe thread is where daily life happens — it’s the modern-day version of doing life together.
It’s not just a chat; it’s connection.
It’s where we share wins and struggles, updates, prayer requests, and moments of honesty.
It’s where encouragement, accountability, and brotherhood stay alive between gatherings. -
Every man needs another man who knows what’s really going on — someone who will walk beside him, not above him.
In Dawn Disciples, every guy is encouraged to have a Battle Buddy — one brother who checks in weekly, prays with you, and asks the real questions.
It’s not about policing each other; it’s about protecting each other.
This is where growth happens — in honesty, accountability, and friendship. -
We use the HabitShare app as a simple way to stay accountable to the habits that shape our lives.
Whether you’re walking with a Battle Buddy or discipling another man, HabitShare helps you track daily commitments — like prayer, Scripture, exercise, or fasting — and stay consistent together.
Because starting new habits or breaking old ones isn’t easy, but with brotherhood and accountability, it becomes possible.“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” — Hebrews 10:24
FAQs
-
No. in fact, many of our brothers join for our Saturday gathering at Dawn. We still encourage every brother to have a Rule of Life they live by to stay anchored to the Lord. But the Dawn 40 is for those that have the bandwidth and want to take a healthy journey with Jesus and a community for 40 days.
-
There will always be a lead facilitator, but there is no special guru or teacher. Iron sharpens iron and we’re all called to make disciples and help one another grow closer to Jesus.
-
Reflect, repent if needed, and reset. Grace is a greater than streaks. The goal isn’t to perfect some program. The goal is to practice slowing down, spending time with the Lord and loving others well.
-
The heart of Dawn Disciples is rising early to meet with the Lord and to meet with your brothers. With that said, if you couldn’t commit to Dawn because of scheduling conflicts, choose a consistent time you can commit to meeting with Jesus and your community. We may have Gatherings that start at different times, but the goal is Dawn.
-
No - choose the day that fits your work/family schedule. The point is weekly rest and worship.
